Thorpe Lodge is the perfect Georgian country house, surrounded by acres of woodland and a glorious garden, at the gateway to the Dales but only 1 1/2 miles from the cathedral city of Ripon.
The bedrooms, which are huge, are beautifully furnished and have en-suite bath and shower. There is a sitting room where smoking is permitted. Guests have their own key and entrance door so they may come and go as they please.
With a choice of plenty of local pubs and restaurants, and enough sight-seeing to keep visitors busy for weeks, Thorpe Lodge is the ideal base for a long break, but is also very handy to the A1 for travellers on their way North or South. Children and dogs are welcome.
A full English breakfast is provided every day, and guests can also have dinner by prior arrangement.
From January, there is a mass of snowdrops in the woods on the approach to the house: they are followed by daffodils, bluebells, wild garlic and cow parsley until the end of May when the garden proper with its themed beds and water features takes over and there is always something to be enjoyed right through to October.
